Despite its lightweight design it's very robust. It’s 59 grams of pure fun.
Don’t be deceived by the sleek, lightweight and portable design of v-JAYS. Because, while tweaking the speakers for the v-JAYS we realized we were about to unleash a monster. These are the hardest hitting pair of headphones you’ll have ever heard.
The robust and collapsible v-JAYS weigh in at a mere 59 grams (2.08 oz) making them one of the lightest headphones in their class. The result is portable, high-performance sound at a mid price point.
The v-JAYS are designed for maximum music enjoyment. The speakers deliver a superior bass impact without overwhelming the other frequencies, meaning all the small details you often miss with other headphones remain intact. It’s time to remind yourself what it is you love about your favourite bands; whether you’re into heavy rock, RnB or singer-songwriter music - you’ll be moving to the beat in no time!
The v-JAYS contain two folding joints which enables them to easily fit into your pocket whilst out and about. Additionally we also mounted each speaker unit on ball joints, allowing a tilt of up to 40 degrees, guaranteeing in-ear comfort when on the go.
The v-JAYS speaker element
The substantial depth of sound delivered by the v-JAYS headphones is the result of two 40mm Mylar speakers. These speakers are finely tuned to create a really heavy bass impact but at the same time they retain all the subtle detail you expect as well as a high overall performance quality. The core construction utilizes a powerful Neodymium magnet and a copper clad aluminum coil. The impedance is as low as 24 Ohm making these speakers extremely powerful – so use them wisely!
The clutter-free v-JAYS come with the essentials of portable audio; a spare pair of foam cushions which will help your headphones last longer and one iPhone compatible 70cm extension cable. With a choice of cable lengths you have the freedom to decide whether your media player remains in your pocket or is fixed to your armband when in the gym.
"The headphones were great overall and you get tons of bass, but also you get a very nuanced track letting you hear all the little parts of the song that an enthusiast wants to hear. You can hear the fingers sliding across the guitar strings in tracks with lots of instruments and you hear the little things that get lost on headphones with less "
"The Jays' 40mm Mylar drivers deliver an extremely taut sound, yet with a natural musicality along with an unexpectedly refined and sophisticated tonality. Vocals and instruments were expansive yet delicately rendered, and treble was smooth and crisp with a surprising amount of atmosphere right up top. A worthy Hi-Fi World Award winner" David Price, Editor
"At just over 2oz, these are about as light as full-size headphones get. They are very flexible and the thin cable never gets in your way. The semi-open-backed design locks out the worst of the noise of the outside world, but not as effectively as the V-Modas’ closed back. Foam earpads and a slim headband make for an easy fit. The sound is superb: despite their low price, the v-Jays beat all but the Sennheisers on sound, being full of detail and emotion. Whatever music you choose, they let the recording shine through without a hint of hardness."
"Jays is a company that just doesn’t know how to do things badly. Every single time we get a pair of headphones through the letterbox we think that they can’t possibly be as good as the last set. And each time we are proved wrong by yet another set of great headphones. […]We can’t emphasise just how good these headphones are."
"Surprisingly deep bass. Capable of ear-thrashing loud volumes. Lighter than a bag of helium. Somewhat portable."
"Grab ‘em! The v-Jays is priced attractively enough that it warrants a buy. Is it the best-sounding headphone in the world? No, but for the price, it is certainly among the very best in a competitive class, and considering the market, one of the most balanced hardware releases. If you like bass, the v-Jays will satisfy unless your tastes drop to subwoofer levels, or you prefer less lean and more flab. Mid and high frequencies are also very good and only slightly recessed in comparison; indeed, the v-Jays may be one of the most realistic listens in the sub 100$ market. It is also made better than most of its competitors, giving it an edge or two on offerings from Sennheiser, Koss, and Ultrasone. What it lacks is a carrying case – an item which would make this headphone one of the easiest kisses at TMA. As it is, the v-Jays is too strong a contender to sit happily with its many peers in the Grab category, but it perfect. Good on ya Jays!"
"Jays tiny headphones are really cheap and really great. They are the smallest headphones in the test, but sound far better than you would imagine. For the price the v-JAYS are excellent and have a living and engaging dynamic sound. With these on your head it never becomes boring."
"The v-JAYS deliver rich and open sound, with lots of punchy bass and smooth sound all over the frequency range. You can turn up the volume really loud and it still delivers a great sound experience.
They are a great catch, and I don’t say that just because I’m a Swede (Jays is a Swedish brand you know). Highly recommended. You can get them in a shop near you for around $100."
"Ditch the wannabe earmuffs and grab a pair of these powerful welterweight champs."
"The most beautiful and functional headphone we have seen in days and years, almost innovative in its own simplicity. Everything is reproduced very fast and tight and the bass is dead dry and extremely well articulated. They come delivered in a no-nonsens gift box."
"For the money, we have no complaints. You have little right to expect this much power from headphones this small and light, and without any compromises in subtlety and balance."
